Wolf Robe was a Southern Cheyenne chief whose name first appears in connection with an attack on General Blunt's soldiers in 1864. His people were forced onto the Cheyenne and Arapaho Reservation in Indian Territory in the late 1870s.
He was generally friendly to the white man, apparently "recognizing the futility of war"and co-operated with the Cherokee Commission which was set up to enable U.S. settlement on tribal lands. For this he was awarded the Benjamin Harris Peace Medal in 1890.
He died on the reservation in 1910 aged 72.
